A Tribute to the Divine Divas and Magical Musicals -

Singer, songwriter and actress Helena Hettema pays
tribute to a forgotten and timeless era of the great divas
and magical musicals.
This captivating DVD covers the stories of the great
divas’ chequered lives and fascinating careers in the
form of voiceovers and black-and-white footage
including heartbreaking scenes from WW11.
The great performer, Welsh singer Shirley Bassey’s,
powerful “Never Never” features as well as hits of divas
such as Judy Garland, Marlene Diettrich and World
War 11 songstress, Vera Lynne who entertained the
troops on the Western front and when she died in 2020,
aged 103, left an indelible mark with tributes pouring
in worldwide.
Amongst the jewels featured from this unforgettable
musical heritage are Judy Garland’s nostalgic song
“Over the Rainbow”, Marlene Diettrich’s lament on
the futility of war, “Where have all the Flowers Gone”
and ‘Lili Marlene” made popular in WW11 by troops
on both sides of the line. Helena also interprets Vera
Lynne’s two favourites “White Cliffs of Dover” and
‘We’ll Meet Again” that recall the fierce battles over
England during WW11.
This DVD also features celebrated iconic songs from
musicals such as “Les Miserables”, “Jesus Christ
Superstar”, “Fiddler on the Roof” and “Evita”.
Helena who is multilingual sings in English, Dutch and
German.
Accomplished pianist and talented arranger, Elsa
Strating accompanies Helena on piano and clavinova.
The DVD was shot in Elsa’s home by Proson Staging
during COVID-19 lockdown in 2021.
